NOMINATIONS for the 2021 Noble Peace Prize will be accepted until 12:00 midnight on August 1, 2021. Nominees must live in and/or primarily practice the activity/ies for which they're being nominated within the Ojai Valley, California.
Nominations received after August 1, 2021 will be considered as nominations for the 2022 prize. The Ojai Peace Coalition's Director and any officers and their immediate family members are exempt from nomination for this award. When making nominations for the Noble Peace Prize, we invite you to carefully consider the meaning - to you - of the award's name, and to take a broad view of the concept of "peace". We are all usually pretty clear about the things that Peace is NOT, but we often come up a little short when pressed for what Peace IS. Soon, we come to understand that sustainable, cultural Peace is not simply the absence of conflict, but contains within it a generous collection of topics and practices, and mindful attention to any of them can very easily considered peacework. For example: There is greater Peace in education than in ignorance. If you know of a superb educator - of any subject, of any age range - they could easily receive the Noble Peace Prize for their contribution to education. There is greater Peace in health than in dis-ease. Do you know someone whose work toward the health - mental, physical, emotional - of others is making a difference in families, our community, the world? They could be our next honoree. Justice carries more Peace than injustice. If you know an Ojai Valley resident whose work centers around justice - environmental, criminal, social, or any other type - we consider them to be inherently working for peace. Perhaps you're thinking of someone who is a compassionate communicator, or an attuned parent, or an engaged Citizen. The ideals of the Noble Peace Prize embrace all of these ways of being and contributing, and many more. Someone you know is working for Peace in whatever way they're passionate about. Nominate them for the 2018 NPP today. |
Remember that the nomination text that you provide may be available to the public after the nomination period has ended, to aid the public in voting for the next honoree. Your identity as the nominator, however, will be kept confidential.
